Database Analyst

Expected Start Date: 08/1/2010

Expected Duration (mo): 18, consultant with option to hire

Rate: Market, salary expectations $90-110K plus bonus

Extensive International travel is required- to China.

Position description: provide technical expertise and leadership for the Oracle Environment database area.  Design, implement and maintain complex database environments and structures. Key customers include I/S application development group, I/S Project Managers, functional users and third party application service providers.

Database Environment

• Provide on-going database support for both Production and multiple development environments, including environment backup/recovery, monitoring, database availability, application processes, future capacity planning and etc

• Design and architect physical database environments. Ensures that the new/changed environment adheres to the enterprise-wide database global architecture.

• Plan, coordinate and implement multiple database related tools, including identifying the database version, the firewall ports, the hardware requirements and the support strategy needed

• Perform application and database clone as needed

• Recognizes when potential problems or conflicts exist between a database environment and the overall enterprise architecture. Escalates issues as needed.

• Manages externally-hosted databases and vendor relationship

• Uses performance metrics and tools to ensure adherence to negotiated service-level agreements.

• Provides input in the negotiation of service-level agreements (SLA’s) for database environments. Writes and/or documents SLA’s as needed.

• Provides governance for database environment standards (e.g., consistent object names, backup/recovery standards, disaster recovery strategy, monitoring tools, etc.).

• Establishes database security standards. Implements security solutions across the database environment.

• Collaborates and consults with I/S business platforms to coordinate the development and deployment of databases worldwide.

• Develop and implement backup/recovery strategy for all database environments.  Perform test recovery sessions.

• Monitor performance of database environments.   Perform tuning of databases when necessary.

• Create and maintain data integrations

Oracle 12 e-Business Application Support

• Function as Application System Administrator to provide daily support

• Migrate customized interface codes to various development environments

• Provide performance tuning advice to development team

• Produce processes, reports, and other evidence to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other audit and compliance requirements

• Apply Application patches as required by Functional team

People/Relationship Management

• May coordinate the activities of other team members on a specific project assignment.

• Leverages relationships with vendors to implement and support database solutions.

• Builds and manages strong relationships with key customers and between teams within I/S, including managing expectations.

Experience Required:

6+ years as a Oracle DBA/Application DBA

6+ years of implementing and supporting Oracle 11i E Business applications, Oracle 10g Application Server  and Oracle database

8+ year of technology experience

Experience Preferred:

Knowledge about Oracle iLearning, Performance Management, Compensation WorkBench a plus.

Converse in Chinese a plus
